The Glass Half Full

Well, today is the halfway mark in my internship; I've been here for 5 weeks, and I have 5 to go. Exactly 5 weeks from tonight I'll be boarding a plane to go home. I can hardly believe it. At first time was crawling, but lately it’s been racing by.  This experience has been like a roller coaster in many ways. I mean let's face it.... I run the emotional gauntlet pretty much every day. Blissful highs and devastating lows are experienced on a daily basis. With that being said, I have learned far more than I ever imagined I would and I still have many more adventures ahead of me.

Some days my glass is half empty and some days it is half full. Each day brings unique challenges and adventures. I'm simultaneously thrilled to be going home next month, but also can't imagine leaving this incredible community behind. I still have a huge to-do list of things I would like to have the opportunity to experience in the next few weeks so careful planning is going to be in order. Obviously this benchmark has me feeling a little extra sentimental, so here's to hoping I can savor each spirit-filled moment. ~ an optimistic Nell in Nairobi PS: here's the only picture I took today. After taking a walk with Mama Faith, we joined Cucu in the kitchen and all shelled beans together. Aren't they beautiful? We used them to make mokimo for dinner.
